Artemio Calumpong is the special counsel of the Firm with vast experience in labor, civil and criminal litigation, dispute resolution and banking.
He has represented several banks and financial intermediaries, schools and universities, hotel and amusement chains and trading and commercial firms in contentious litigations and headed the Firm’s law teams defending corporate executives in cases relating to their work as well as family and personal cases.
Having worked at the Department of Labor and Employment when he was still a law student, he is the Firm’s expert in labor law and industrial relations. His experience in this field is extensive owing from his stints as the former Head of Human Resources of an international institution and as consultant of the Congressional Oversight Committee on Labor and Employment. He was previously a Lecturer for government lawyers on the topic “Unionism in the Government Sector” in the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education program in the Ateneo De Manila University School of Law. He is the resident adviser of the Firm’s clients in the difficult field of business operations involving human relations preventing potential troubles and costly labor litigations.
Despite the corporate, civil, criminal and labor cases that he handles, Artemio is the Firm’s point man in its corporate social responsibility, taking care of pro bono cases for marginalized tribal communities, cooperatives, and institutions for alternative learning.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Major in Creative Writing degree at Silliman University and studied in the University of the Philippines for his law degree, graduating in 1989 and becoming a full-fledged lawyer the year after.
